I called this blog long time no sing, but long time no blog is more accurate. I've been delighted by how much singing I've managed to fit in this year despite the challenges of singing 'in person' still being very much present due to the pandemic.
Back in May, I took part in the Showstoppers Alternative Eurovision song contest, bringing back my character from last year to do a special interval performance. You can see the video here.
Since then live shows have tentatively started to open up again and in fact there has been lots of social dis-dancing happening. I have now done a few Showstoppers gigs with the challenge of staying 2 metres apart and Yes Queens are back to touring gigs too. All in the this strange halfway world of Covid restrictions and staying creative while staying safe.
Things not quite being back to normal have also meant that online teaching is still very much a thing and that too has pushed me into some really great places creatively. I've run one off classes like Story Songs and The Nursery Music Performance ensemble had12 glorious weeks of developing an online show.
The last year or so with all of this, and moving out of London and starting a new life have forced me to live an improvisational mindset off stage as well onstage. I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to play at the edges of all these creative restrictions. This Autumn will continue in the same way with a hybrid of online and online life. You can see all my upcoming classes on the learn page - hope to see you there, wherever it may be.
